Men's Discipleship Groups
Highlands Men’s Ministry is offering a number of discipleship groups designed to help men build bonds of friendship and brotherhood and a deeper knowledge of the Scripture with a small circle of guys. Click here to register for one of these groups. They include:
Sunday Night Group: This group meets at the church at 6 pm on Sunday evenings in room 210/211. They are working through Patrick Morley's classic, The Man in the Mirror. The study will look at 24 problems that men face today, which include acceptance and significance, relationships, attitudes and integrity, money and time management. This will provide a Christian framework to examine our circumstances and redefine our outlook to better handle the rigors of daily life. Leader: Larkin Chapman.
Tuesday Morning Group: This group meets at 6:30 am on Tuesday mornings at the church. They are working through Gospel Transformation, an inductive study focusing on our need for the transforming power of the gospel. It goes straight to the heart, exploring such issues as repentance, forgiveness, the flesh, compassion, believing our justification and much more. Leader: David Fowler.
Wednesday Morning Group: This group meets at 6:45 am at the Hilton Garden Inn in Madison each Wednesday. The focus of the study is Living in Light of the Gospel. This inductive study is designed to help us consider the practical implication of things like the love of God, forgiveness, the cross, heaven, reputation, and the Kingdom of God for our lives and our relationships. Leader: Bob Brunson.
Wednesday Night Group: This group meets during the Adult Bible study hour on Wednesday nights in room 209 on the 2nd floor (6:30 to 7:30 pm). The target audience of this group is fathers of teens or pre-teens. Other men are welcomed, as some may want to prepare ahead for this most interesting time of their family's growth. The study is entitled, "Parenting Teens," and is a fun but intensive study of scriptural imperatives and precepts as relates to raising adolescents. The study also includes discussion of extra-biblical texts, primarily Age of Opportunity by Paul David Tripp and will incorporate some of the same discussion topics as the Sunday night Women's Ministry study for mothers of teens, led by Debbie Simpson. The teaching style is interactive and not didactic, focusing on the real issues related to raising teens. The latter part of each session will be reserved for specific prayer requests and/or discussion of specific ongoing family issues. Leader: Kevin Simpson.
