Short-term Missions
Highlands is committed to giving an increasing number of our members personal exposure to the mission field in the coming years. In order to do this, the Missions Committee offers one to two week mission trips to various parts of the world each year.
In 2009, Highlands sent a team of youth and adults to Uganda in June. The team participated in graduation ceremonies at the Uganda Bible Institute, and was also involved in offering vacation Bible school for children, a retreat for women, and doing sports ministry as well.
The next short-term missions experience to be offered by Highlands will be a spring break trip to Yakama, Washington, for college students to work with Sacred Road Ministries among native Americans. The trip is a joint venture of Highlands' College Ministry and RUF at Mississippi State University. To help support our students, please contact Director of Student Ministries, Wilson Shirley, at wilson@highlandspca.org.
The Missions Committee is also planning a short-term trip for adults to New York City in the summer of 2010. Watch this space for more details!
