Join us at Highlands at 6 p.m. this Thursday, March 31 for an evening of music with Adam Wright and special guests Rick Barnes (see below) and Mike and Allie Murphy. Adam’s life-long pursuit is setting Scripture to music, a resource to help God’s people engage and treasure the Bible more deeply. He began this process as music minister for Cahaba Park Church in 2013, writing Psalms to song for a summer sermon series on the Psalms.  He has written and recorded over 40 songs straight from the pages of Scripture under the moniker “The Corner Room”.  As each passage has a different character and intent, each song he writes takes on a different style, drawing from his deep love of acoustic music. A singer/songwriter at heart, Adam enjoys arranging each passage into an accessible and singable work that makes memorization and meditation a joy. “These songs are a treasure to me,” says Wright.  “They’ve not only impacted my family, my church, and my community, but have made a lasting impact on my own personal love and understanding of Scripture. I look forward to where the Lord leads from here.”

Rick Barnes is a native of Birmingham, AL and graduated from the University of Montevallo in 2005 with a degree in piano performance. While there, he was also a member of Campus Outreach and met his wife, Stacy. Over the past 17 years, Rick has served as music minister at Grace Presbyterian (Birmingham), Park Road Presbyterian (Hollywood, FL), and currently, Covenant Presbyterian (Birmingham). Rick and Stacy will celebrate 15 years of marriage this June and have two children: Fiona (10) and Asa (8).
