Youth Hymn Sing - December 1, 2024
On Sunday, December 1, Highland’s Student Ministry had the honor of hosting a multi-church Hymn Sing event for all PCA youth groups in the area! 85 students from Highlands, First Presbyterian Church, Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church, Providence Presbyterian Church, and others gathered together in the fellowship hall for a time of worship, consisting of singing Christmas Advent Hymns and scripture readings throughout. BBQ was provided by First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and Providence Presbyterian Church’s Praise Team led them in song. Students also enjoyed Christmas cookies & hot cocoa!
What a great opportunity for the students to see and be a part of something bigger than Highlands as they gathered to worship our Lord and Savior! Click here to see photos of the evening!
Duck Camp Recap - November 2, 2024 in Greenwood, MS
On Saturday, November 2, our Student Ministry held a guys-only Duck Camp Event in Greenwood, MS, for sons and their fathers or father figures. The day was filled with fun activities including target shooting, skeet shooting, kayaking, and more. Deacon Andy Sensing prepared a delicious lunch featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, and smoked bologna. Steve Weeks also led a devotion for the group. It was a wonderful opportunity to get away, appreciate God’s creation, and spend quality time together as men, both young and seasoned. Our guys had a blast! Fall Retreat Recap- October 5-6 at Twin Lakes Camp
On October 5th and 6th our Highlands Student Ministry Group went on their Fall Retreat to Twin Lakes Camp. The speaker for the weekend was Bryce Davis, Associate Pastor at Providence Presbyterian Church. He taught on Romans 8 and the topic "When Everything Feels Bigger than Jesus". Mike Murphy led them in a time of music and singing Saturday morning. The youth enjoyed a great weekend of canoeing, football, games, and a campfire and s’mores in the evening. Many thanks to Michael Hawkins, Steve Weeks, Aidan Duncan, and Stephen Sellers for leading and guiding our students. What a great enriching weekend of bonding, spiritual growth, learning and fun. Highlands is grateful for the opportunity to invest in our students' lives. See photos of the weekend here
