REACHING Beyond The Walls- Monthly Mercy Spotlight:
For the month of October, please be in prayer for Lifeline Children’s Services.
They equip the Body of Christ to care for vulnerable children, reflecting the gospel through adoption and family support. Rooted in James 1:27, Lifeline sees adoption as a reflection of God’s love, placing the lonely in families (Psalm 68). Their mission is to walk alongside Christian families, providing resources and support to help children grow in Christ. Volunteers are vital—from administration and events to hospitality and prayer—your service helps Lifeline thrive. Learn more at https://lifelinechild.org/. VBS at Canton Kids – A Wonderful Success!
We’re excited to share that the Canton Kids VBS, held July 22–24, was a great success!
Approximately 40 children attended daily throughout the three-day VBS. We’re especially grateful for the 25+ volunteers from Highlands who made it all possible. The kids enjoyed a variety of activities, from indoor games and a brand-new volleyball net to the popular marshmallow dodgeball! They sang songs about trusting Jesus, memorized Scripture with motions, and heard the gospel each day through engaging Bible stories led by our Highlands volunteers.
Crafts like Good News bracelets and tin can lanterns reinforced the lessons in a fun and meaningful way. And thanks to our volunteers, every child went home with a supper sack filled with healthy treats.
A heartfelt thank you to Andy & Terry Sensing, all the faithful volunteers, and the Highlands women who provided sandwiches, hot dogs, cookies, and other homemade goodies. We’re so thankful for how God worked through this year’s VBS! See all the photos of their week HERE.
Kid’s Club in Canton
The Kid’s Club in Canton, MS meets every Tuesday during the school year from 4- 5pm. They meet with kids ages 5-12 years of age and share the gospel message through music, crafts, and a Bible lesson every week. They meet in a large building behind Pleasant Green Church of Christ Holiness and are able to reach kids from the Joe Pritchard Home and the surrounding neighborhood. One of our beloved Highlands’ members, Lacy Madden had a vision for this outreach ministry 11 years ago and God has continued to bless and grow this work in Canton. We enjoy partnering with Pleasant Green Church and Pastor Tony Parker.
Current volunteer workers are Bob and Becky Cochran, Patty and Freddy Rayner, Melanie Toler, Pam Biggs, Barbara and Jerry Beavers, Joy and Larry Trevathan, Hap and Robyn Farber, Kathleen Gaines, Kate Madden, Kathryn Day and Terry and Andy Sensing. Several of our youth have also joined us at different times. All are welcomed to come and help!
